Gender Pronouns: she, her, hers

Diane was born and raised in the Eastside where her family established their roots in the 1920s and faced an incredible amount of racism and discrimination in LAUSD schools. Diane attended local parochial K-12 schools where she was first introduced to social justice not as a theory, but as a calling to denounce injustices and to push for just ways of living together in community.  As a student at Cal Poly Pomona, Diane led outreach initiatives for historically marginalized students and communities of color and developed a passion for educational justice. Prior to joining InnerCity Struggle, Diane worked to improve K-12 public education and academic outcomes for students through parent engagement programming. In her current role, she coordinates a variety of projects to elevate InnerCity Struggle’s visibility and to maintain and increase institutional fundraising efforts. In May 2019, Diane will complete a master’s degree in Marriage in Family Therapy. As an MFT Trainee, Diane embraces activist traditions of building solidarity, hope, and empowerment to resist systems of oppression, which are the context of people's trauma.
