Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, Beatriz witnessed the educational injustices and lack of resources in her community. She saw many talented, intellectual peers being pushed out of the education system which is why she became motivated to work with youth in order to support them towards graduation, a higher education, and/or their overall life goals. Beatriz received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Chican@ Studies with a minor in Education at the University of California, Los Angeles. Throughout her time at UCLA, she volunteered through different programs and mentored and tutored high school students. Beatriz joined Innercity Struggle in 2014 and is currently the Academic Coordinator who oversees the whole Academic Services component. She works primarily with the seniors from United Students.
